How can I give to St John’s?

Your giving enables all that we do at St John’s to serve God in our church, community and beyond. That includes holding our Sunday and mid-week services, our groups, providing resources for work among children, youths and those with additional needs. It also helps us run our courses and our wider ministry, and supports our Mission Partners and their work at home and abroad. Giving is a response to all that God has generously given us. There are several different ways of giving financially explained below.

Parish Giving Scheme

The Parish Giving Scheme is a secure and efficient Direct Debit system helping you plan your giving and, if you are a taxpayer, to do so tax efficiently.

  • You can boost your gifting by 25p of Gift Aid for every £1 you give, which can be reclaimed by the church from the tax you pay for the current tax year. This means that even more money goes towards St John’s and the work we do to support all those in the community – and it won't cost you extra.

To ensure that all your gifts are under Gift Aid, you need to make a Gift Aid declaration. You can do this when arranging an online direct gift by ticking the consent box.

If you are arranging payment by bank transfer can fill out our online form or we will need you to download the Gift Aid Declaration Form, complete it and return it to us at: St John’s Treasurer: 41 Glendevon Road, Woodley, RG5 4PL

  • Many employers offer Payroll Giving which allows you to give directly to Ascension from your salary before tax is deducted. To find out if your employer offers Payroll Giving, contact your HR office.

  • You may wish to give to Ascension via a charitable aid agency. These agencies are useful for those who give to multiple charities and wish to have their giving recorded in one place or for those who wish to give anonymously.
