You are welcome on Sundays

Whether you know God intimately or not at all, whatever your stage of life, you’re welcome.
We have several Sunday services, reflecting various traditions and styles. We look forward to welcoming you soon!

8:00am Said Holy Communion

EVERY 1ST AND 3RD SUNDAY OF THE MONTH

A traditional service of Holy Communion drawn from the Book of Common Prayer (1662). The Prayer Book is loved for the rich beauty of its language and is a great treasure of The Church of England. We use collects in their original form and readings are taken from the King James Bible. Normally there is no sermon, but one will be preached on major feast days.

10:00am Sunday Morning Worship

Our main Sunday service where the whole church family comes together. Worship is a mix of contemporary songs and traditional hymns, and we celebrate communion on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month. Separate children’s groups are provided part-way through, and a crèche area is available for those with little ones. On the 1st Sunday of the month, we hold our “Intergenerational” service, where we learn and grow together. Teas and coffees are served after the service in the church centre, please join us!

10:00am Sunday Children / Youth Church

SUNDAYS 10:00AM (DURING OUR MORNING SERVICE)

After a family song and object lesson that we enjoy all together, our Fledglings (4-8 year olds) and Flight-RG5 (9-14 year olds) head out to their respective groups for a time of playing games, making crafts, eating snacks and studying the bible. We want Sundays to be the highlight of their week.

3:00pm South-Asian Fellowship

St. John’s is honoured to host the Urdu, Punjabi, and Hindi speaking congregation that has been meeting in the church building since 2019. The congregation is part of the larger Reading Asian Christian Fellowship, and is led by Revd. Richard Christopher. Services are conducted in Urdu, Punjabi, and Hindi, following authorised forms of Anglican liturgy. The service caters for all ages, and is followed by a time of fellowship over food and drink in the Church Centre.

4:00pm Wild Church

EVERY 4TH SUNDAY OF THE MONTH CHURCH COTTAGE GARDEN

On the 4th Sunday of the month, we meet in the Church Cottage Garden for Wild Church. This is an all-weather, light-touch space for people to explore faith and share life together. There is a mix of activities designed to get people out exploring their environment whilst they ask wondering questions about the God who made it all. We engage with the Bible, often around a campfire that requires marshmallow toasting and lots of hot chocolate!
