The purpose of the fund is to offer support to vulnerable families and individuals by providing quick response micro grants for eligible households, who find themselves in cases of acute financial need. These grants are intended to be of a one-off nature, to cover a need in an emergency, and not a regular source of income.

What can I apply for?

Micro-grants are available in the range of £20-50 for help with an immediate financial crisis, such as:

  • Topping up a prepayment energy meter

  • Emergency food costs

  • Medicine/prescription costs

  • Baby essentials e.g. nappies, formula etc

  • Hygiene/toiletries

  • Petrol/fuel costs

Eligibility Criteria

The fund is open to anyone who lives in Woodley, although preference will be given to households within our parish (check your address here to see which parish you live in) or those connected to our regular congregation.

If you don’t live in our parish or are on our electoral roll, applications will be accepted by referral from the following community partners:

  • Woodley Foodbank

  • Woodley Lunchbunch

  • SHARE

  • Woodley CofE Primary School

  • Willowbank Primary School

  • St John’s Toddler Group

Applications from a particular household will only be accepted once in a 6 week period.

How do I apply?

Please apply using this online form. If you are being referred through a partner, they will need to email confirmation of the referral to communityfund@stjohn-woodley.com.

How will I know if I have been successful?

We will aim to contact successful applicants within 24-48 hrs.

Grants will ideally be payable into a bank account - please advise on your application if this is not possible.

Please note: Unfortunately, we can’t guarantee the success of any application. Amount/size of grants awarded in a given week will depend on the number of applications received.

Priority will be given to households within the parish, and to new applicants.
