What is Gift Aid

Giving more through Gift Aid

You can boost your gifting by 25p of Gift Aid for every £1 you give, which can be reclaimed by the church from the tax you pay for the current tax year. This means that even more money goes towards St John’s and the work we do to support all those in the community – and it won't cost you extra.

To ensure that all your gifts are under Gift Aid, you need to make a Gift Aid declaration. You can do this when arranging an online direct gift by ticking the consent box, however, if you are arranging payment by bank transfer we will need you to download the Gift Aid Declaration Form, complete it and return it to us at:

St John’s Treasurer: 41 Glendevon Road, Woodley, RG5 4PL

or alternatively complete the online form.

Please note, Gift Aid is only applicable to UK taxpayers. You must notify us if you

  • want to cancel your declaration;

  • change your name or home address or;

  • no longer pay sufficient tax on your income and/or capital gains

If you pay Income Tax at the higher or additional rate and want to receive the additional tax relief due to you, you must include all your Gift Aid gifting on your Self-Assessment tax return or ask HM Revenue & Customs to adjust your tax code. Gift Aid declarations must be completed individually. Joint forms for couples are invalid. If you are unsure whether your giving qualifies for Gift Aid tax relief, please contact your local tax office for advice and ask for leaflet IR65.
